Stainless Steel Zipper: Stronger for Longer.
Modapelle Style February 2018 | Editorial
In 2018 OOK will launch its first series of stainless steel zippers. The technology behind it is revolutionary but the real break through is in terms of performance and resilience.
Low reactivity, resistance to tarnish, excellent durability
Stainless steel is mainly an alloy of iron, carbon and chromium, which makes it highly resistant to rust or corrosion.
The stainless steel passivation process chemically removes these free irons and forms a passive oxide “film” layer which further improves corrosion resistance and makes the steel less reactive with its environment. The chromium in the alloy forms a thin, invisible film of chromium oxide on the surface of the metal that protects iron oxide, or rust, from forming. This passive layer also prevents staining and discolouration of the metal under normal circumstances. Few chemicals can etch or corrode the metal.
